Considering laser vision correction

If you are thinking about LASIK or another laser vision procedure, begin with an informed conversation. Dr. Schwartz Optometrist & Associates can help you discuss your vision needs and whether further evaluation with a refractive surgeon is appropriate. Surgery and the final decision about candidacy belong with the treating surgeon.

Questions to discuss

Your prescription history, corneal health, dry eye symptoms, medical history, medications, and daily activities can affect candidacy. Bring your glasses or contact lens information and tell the doctor what you hope to change about your vision.

Understand the benefits and limits

Laser vision correction may reduce dependence on glasses or contacts, but it does not guarantee freedom from them. Possible risks include dry eye, glare, halos, and loss of vision. Ask the surgeon about your individual risks, alternatives, recovery, and the possibility of needing glasses later.
